Going by many different aliases, Agaricus bisporus is the most widely cultivated and consumed mushroom in the world. Young specimens will be seen in grocery stores sold under the names of button, chestnut, white, cremini, and baby bella. When mature, the mushroom is sold as a portobello. Also pictured here is a set of Merry Mushroom canisters. These belong to a popular line of kitchenware developed by Sears from 1970 to 1987, eventually consisting of over 250 products, including teapots, butter dishes, timers, shakers, and so much more. These remain to this day a popular collector’s item among mushroom enthusiasts.
